How to Get Started
To earn Autodesk Certification, you must pass an Autodesk Certification exam, or a series of exams, and follow some simple steps.
Step 1. Choose the Certification that’s right for you: Choose the level and the Autodesk application that best applies to you. Learn what to expect by reviewing the exam guide detailing the skills you’ll need.
Step 2. Assess your readiness: Take an assessment test to assess your knowledge of the product. And then take a practice test for the Professional-level exams. These practice tests simulate the actual performance-based test and will give you a good indication of your readiness.
Step 3. Get the training you need: Attend one of the classes that Onix offers in their Ottawa training facility, or on-site group training can be provided.
Step 4. Apply your training and practice your skills: Practice what you’ve learned to gain experience.
Step 5. Take the required exam: Register at and take your exam at Onix .
What is the Cost?
Exam fees range from $50.00 to $150.00 with Practice Tests from $18.00 to $30.00. The exams can be purchased on www.autodesk.starttest.com
What To Expect:
The exam is not easy and there is a time limit of four hours to complete and the fastest time during the inaugural test was just over two hours. Once you access and download the exam, an imbedded timer will monitor the allotted time limit. You can bring clean blank paper and pen or pencil to the workstation for use during the test. All papers brought into the testing center must be surrendered upon completion of the exam. The Onix testing facility will provide you with a computer with Internet access for you to take the exam.
Those who pass the exam are considered Certified Experts. The exam consists of 100 questions and is aimed at users with typically more than 500 hours of experience. As certification must be renewed with each new software release, a shorter renewal exam focuses on new features and functionality of the latest version of Autodesk software.
Benefits graduates will receive include:
- Expert status—Graduates will be provided an Electronic Certificate suitable for framing and a Certification Logo for use on business cards, résumés, letterhead, etc.
- Skills assessment—Whether or not you pass the exam, you will receive immediate diagnostic feedback about how to improve your Autodesk skills so you are more aware of your strengths and weaknesses and better prepared to retake the test.
- Listing on Autodesk in the Certified Users Database—Once certified, you can choose to have your contact information and certifications listed in Autodesk’s publically available database. This is an excellent way to immediately demonstrate your certification status to prospective employers.
